UTAH TRANSIT AUTHORITY BOARD GOVERNANCE

The Utah Transit Authority (UTA) is governed by the Board of Trustees. The Board directs and guides the public business, policy, actions, and affairs of UTA. Board authority to govern UTA is established within Utah state statute by the Special Districts Act (Utah Code 17B-1-301) in conjunction with the Public Transit District Act (Utah Code 17B-2a-808.1).

Some examples of Board powers and duties for governance include: hold public meetings and receive public comment; approve an annual budget; approve contracts and property acquisitions; approve service plans; develop a strategic plan; set rates, fares, and other charges.

UTAH TRANSIT AUTHORITY BYLAWS

Bylaws are based on the Special Districts Act, Public Transit District Act, and other relevant federal and state laws that inform the governance and operations of the Authority. Bylaws are adopted by the Board after consultation with the Local Advisory Council.


UTAH TRANSIT AUTHORITY BOARD POLICIES

Board Policies are based on federal and state laws and the Bylaws. Board policies provide a framework that enables the Board to execute functions and powers for performance of their duties for UTA. Policies are approved by the Board after consultation with the Local Advisory Council.
