About UTA's Governance

Utah Transit Authority is governed by a 7-member Transit Commission established under Utah Senate Bill 197. Commissioners, appointed through a state-led process, approve the annual budget, adopt the Long-Range Transit Plan, guide transit investments, and advocate for transit regionally.

The Executive Director sets UTA’s strategic direction and leads the agency’s daily operations, staff, and services.

This structure is designed to make transit more responsive, reliable, and aligned with the continued growth of Utah's communities.
